Sturgeon criticised for move leaving Alexandria patients without mental health ward
The Alexandria area could be left without a specialist mental health ward after Nicola Sturgeon announced plans to close the Christie Ward in Vale of Leven Hospital.
The Health Minister has come under fire for the decision, which will see inpatient services transferred to Gartnavel Hospital in Glasgow.
Helensburgh MSP Jackie Baille, who has campaigned to keep the unit open, said: "The SNP keep saying they support local health services, but removing the Christie Ward is the exact opposite of their promise.
“This decision is just yet another example of how the SNP mantra of retaining services local services is a fallacy."
