Alexandria artist's tribute to friend wins 'Florence' cover competition
2 FebruaryAn artist from Alexandria will see her work on the cover of band Florence and the Machine's next single after she won a national competition to design artwork with an emotionally charged portrait in memory of her friend.
Alexandria artist Louise Clifford's picture of her friend Natalie Roberts - who died in 2010 after battling a rare form of cancer - will be immortalised on the new cover and displayed in a London art gallery after receiving the most votes in an online vote.
Louise (22) entered her design for the single 'Only If For A Night' after seeing that the competition was being run in aid of the Teenage Cancer Trust, a charity which helped Natalie during her fight with the disease.
Now, the portrait of Natalie - who died in 2010 aged just 20 after a battle with Ewing's Sarcoma - has been chosen to feature on a limited edition single being released by Florence and the Machine.
