Alexandria artist's tribute to friend wins 'Florence' cover competition

An artist from Alexandria will see her work on the cover of band Florence and the Machine's next single after she won a national competition to design artwork with an emotionally charged portrait in memory of her friend.

Alexandria artist Louise Clifford's picture of her friend Natalie Roberts - who died in 2010 after battling a rare form of cancer - will be immortalised on the new cover and displayed in a London art gallery after receiving the most votes in an online vote.

Louise (22) entered her design for the single 'Only If For A Night' after seeing that the competition was being run in aid of the Teenage Cancer Trust, a charity which helped Natalie during her fight with the disease.

Now, the portrait of Natalie - who died in 2010 aged just 20 after a battle with Ewing's Sarcoma - has been chosen to feature on a limited edition single being released by Florence and the Machine.
